The features, maturity, and huge active community making WordPress so popular for bloggers actually makes WordPress a serious candidate for a quite large segment of traditional business websites.
If you’re not already aware of it I can tell you that WordPress is silently serving a lot of websites that I would not categorize as blogs. Of cause there are types of websites having loads of special and complex requirements WordPress will never be supporting well but if you don’t have these needs WordPress is worth considering… it’s free, the most popular open source platform to date, easy to use, fast to set up, there are thousands of good looking simple WordPress themes available…
This post show you more than 20 websites using WordPress for Non-Blogging purposes – hope this will inspire you! If you are interested to created websites like this you should look for special themes like e.g. themes for WordPress e-commerce. Some people want a faster and more easy way to start blogging than a WordPress installation can provide, that’s one of the reasons why Blogger themes has become quite popular.

How to know if it is WordPress? Looking for “…/wp-content/…” in the markup (using fx. view source) of a website will reveal if WordPress is serving us behind the scenes. Most of the websites below have used themes that are either created specifically for their purpose. You can see what the theme name is like this “…/wp-content/<theme name>”. It is likely that most of the sites have themes that are inspired from popular blog themes but theme name/folder has been changed in the process. I believe the vast majority of WordPress instances used for blogging does not follow this pattern.
